Momentum launches Canada India Climate Circle at Toronto Climate Week 2026

Momentum launched the Canada India Climate Circle at the Toronto Climate Week 2026. About 30 founders, investors, operators, and researchers brainstormed opportunities and challenges at the intersection of Canada & India's ecosystems

A few themes stood out. First, there is significant untapped potential for collaboration between the two countries across climate innovation, capital, talent, and deployment. Second, the strongest opportunities appear to lie in areas such as industrial decarbonization, energy systems, critical minerals, advanced manufacturing, adaptation, agritech, and climate resilience. Third, many of the most interesting opportunities lie not only in technology, but in building the relationships, trust, and ecosystem infrastructure needed to support cross-border collaboration. And lastly, despite strong interest, there are surprisingly few forums dedicated to such conversations.

Not surprisingly, there was a strong consensus that these gatherings should continue, perhaps every other month. We're excited to explore that path.

Momentum co-hosts the South Asia Climate Showcase at SF Climate Week

Momentum partnered with BASACA and Cooley to host the South Asia Climate Showcase at the SF Climate Week 2026. We were joined by several industry leaders, VCs, and entrepreneurs for a set of engaging discussions and lightning talks.

It was great for Momentum Capital's Bharti Singhla to moderate the panel discussion on the State of Climate Capital with our panelists: Priya Shah (Theia), Aakash Shah (Peak Sustainability), and Parikshit Sharma (SOSV), especially with the new rapid-fire format.

Other highlights included: A keynote address by Ashish Khanna on how ISA is changing the paradigm for South Asia's role in the global energy conversation; Lightning talks by Shruti Mahajan Deorah (IECC), Yashee Mathur (Hydrify), and our portfolio founder, Shubhankar Mihir Seth (Climitra); and lastly a panel discussion on Climate Scaling Stack. We at Momentum are proud partners in bringing this group together.

For us, the greatest joy came from meeting people who are not originally from the region or have historical ties to it, but have decided to come forward to solve the tough problems we are facing, regardless of their home country. After all, climate change knows no borders, and hence neither should the solutions. Global collaboration to solve climate change is needed now more than ever, and we aim to do more together.

Momentum co-hosts 'The Climate Room' at the Delhi Climate Innovation Week

Momentum co-hosted 'The Climate Room' with ZeCa Capital, the Startup Club (by IITDAA) and Delhi Climate Innovation Week (by Climate Collective) at IIT Delhi. We brought together founders, operators & investors and for an evening of real conversations.

No panels. No fluff. Everyone just spoke their heart out! From early-stage dreamers to seasoned operators - the energy in the courtyard was electric. Pawan Raj Kumar (ZeCa), Ramneek Bhatia (India Habitat), our own Bharti Singhla, James Abraham (Mynzo), Abhishek Kakkar (IAN), Arpit Dhupar (Dharaksha), Vrinda Sharma (Alumni Ventures) and several others took the mic to speak about the climate crisis we face today. They shared perspectives on solutions, hope, and the entrepreneurial strength and determination needed to drive change. A few even moved the room with powerful poems. This is how ecosystems will be built - one curated room at a time.

Momentum team conducts our third office hours session with founders in three cities

Some of our best conversations (and even deals!) have happened with founders over a cup of coffee. So we love taking out time to invite and meet founders for a focused one-on-one session. In addition to Bengaluru and Delhi NCR, we hosted founders in Mumbai too this time. Bharti Singhla and Atharva Wagle brainstormed with founders on what they were building or planning to build in climate tech. We provided honest feedback to founders on our take on the space and tried providing them with answers to challenges they're facing.

There were multiple registrations but our team was able to meet 12 teams across the three days. Highly passionate founders building in electrolyser technology, energy storage, battery-tech, textiles, biotech and multiple other sectors came to meet us.

As always, we were reinvigorated in our mission to invest in more groundbreaking startups after hearing from climate tech founders solving problems in such diverse sectors!

Momentum co-hosts roundtable focusing on growth capital for materials startups with TDK Ventures and Terrarium

Momentum Capital co-hosted a workshop along with our friends at TDK Ventures & Terrarium, bringing together materials startups in the built environment, biomanufacturing, and battery sectors as well as early-growth investors. We deep-dived into the various technical, operational and commercial milestones that Series A/B investors look for at this stage.

The event was hosted in roundtable format with each sector being allocated a separate roundtable having a few early and growth stage founders as well as investors. Investors shared their views on what they analysed in businesses, while growth startups shared their journey on how they navigated paths to reach the milestones that early stage startups in the room were still getting through. Everyone walked away with some crucial takeaways and a good network. The TDK Ventures team was also kind enough to share their evaluation scorecard to ground the discussion.

Momentum team attends the inaugural Toronto Climate Week 2025

Momentum team was at the inaugural Toronto Climate Week (TOCW) 2025, meeting and engaging with climate tech investors, government stakeholders, ecosystem builders and founders in Canada.

This was the first edition of TOCW, launched to create a Canadian platform that unites climate action with culture, innovation, and community. Its mission is to position Toronto as a globally recognized hub for climate solutions. There were great events organized by BDC Capital and ArcTern Ventures to drive the VC in climate tech conversation forward. But what stood out most wasn’t any single session or announcement, but the collective reminder of how vast & fast-growing this ecosystem is in Canada, and the support being lent by various stakehoders.

As the event expands into a full week in June 2026, we're sure to organize our own side event to spark the conversation on the collaboration needed between the Gobal North and Global South on climate tech. If you're interested in, or are aready working in the local Canada & India climate tech ecosystems, or trying to bridge the gap between the two, do ping us.

Momentum hosts US-India Deeptech Dialogues at New York Climate Week 2025

Momentum team recently hosted the US-India Deeptech Dialogues at New York Climate Week (NYCW) 2025, alongside Riceberg Ventures and BASACA. The event was organized as a panel discussion + mixer, and ended up bringing together 100+ South Asian founders & investors working across the India-US corridor.

As Suhani wrote "The mix was wild (in the best way): founders using rice husk/biomass for carbon credits, energy marketplaces, water access innovators, biochar processing machines, DAC technologies that are energy-source agnostic, plus researchers and policy folks from BCG, Columbia, the White House, alongside venture builders, accelerators, and VCs. An eclectic group where everyone was offering help and intros."

"Heard in the room: This feels like a safe space in the busy Climate Week to chat about real issues and solutions. This is the place to be shameless and ask how the community can help. Cimate change knows no borders, neither should the solutions. And our favorite: “Best food at NY Climate Week! (Samosas do the magic)".

Momentum Capital sponsors SusCrunch 2025, an annual Climate Tech conference for India

Momentum Capital recently sposored SusCrunch 2025, the annual climate tech conference of note in India, organized by the SusMafia. The event brought together over 400 founders, investors, corporates & academia representatives.

The summit was designed as a high-energy working space, with impact-led problem-solving sessions rather than a conventional conference. At the core was the Builder Room, a dynamic setting where 24 handpicked founders including Alternative Bio, Climate Finance, Circularity, Renewable Energy and many more, brought pressing business problems to the table. Facing them were corporate leaders and investors who offered direct input and support. Atharva Wagle acted as one of the moderators for the Builder Room.

The SusVentures Big Pi Grant Pitch Finale brought the day’s energy to a peak. Five early-stage startups pitched breakthrough innovations, from waste-to-energy platforms to AI-powered bio-sensing tools, to a panel of expert judges, including Ankur Shrivastava. The winning startup received a ₹31.4 lakh grant.

The event also saw the inaugural launch of the India Climate Opportunity Map; a curated first-of-its-kind list of 25 urgent and investible climate startups building breakthrough solutions tailored for the Indian market, which was co-authored by Bharti Singhla.

Momentum Capital hosts a deeptech townhall, supported by the SusMafia team

Momentum Capital joined hands with The Sustainability Mafia to host a townhall for 75 founders & investors in Bengaluru, discussing seed-stage climate tech investing in India. At the townhall, we witnessed honest conversations, game-changing insights, and meaningful connections. From how Indian & Indian-origin founders are shaping the global startup scene to what it takes to scale deep tech in climate & health, we explored the pulse of innovation. But it wasn’t just talk — we made networking smarter with matchmaking that actually worked.

Ankur Shrivastava answered key questions facing deep tech startups in India: How do we accelerate commercialization timelines in India? How do we balance R&D and revenue? Can commercialization itself drive scale instead of relying solely on funding?

He also detailed key startup ecosystem differences between the North American and Indian markets, especially on funding availability & structure, policy landscape & incentives, and tech adoption & scalability challenges.
